Welcome back my friends!
Now I know last week was a lot to take in. I could almost hear some of you saying...
“A new challenge? ME? On video?”
I know for some of you this is WAY outside your comfort zone. For others, it’s a fun opportunity to improve what they are already doing!
Wherever you are on this spectrum I want to let you know, I appreciate you and the step you're taking that feels right for you.
If you haven’t written anything yet and still want to participate in Project Eagle there is still time! It’s actually very simple. Head on over to the August Writing Challenge for some inspiration and guidance. You can also check out the comments and find what others have shared to see your fellow members own creations.
Time to Fly!
So now the fun part begins. Get your cell phone or old VHS camcorders ready!
“Wait just a minute! Who said I’m actually doing this?”
Just hear me out. I know putting yourself on camera is one thing. Sharing your own creative expression AND doing it on camera is a whole other thing! Why would you put yourself out there to be judged and critiqued by others? What if they don’t like your poem? Your song? Or your hair!? 🫣
Why go to all this trouble to join this challenge? After all, I bet you’re pretty comfortable living your life the way it is. Why rock the boat?
You wouldn’t be reading this far if there wasn’t a small part of you that was secretly wanting to participate in this challenge… 😉
I get it. It’s not easy for some of you out there. Here’s the secret, you ready?
“Those who matter, won’t mind. And those who mind, don’t matter.”
These words are most commonly attributed to Dr. Seuss, however, there is actually no record of him saying this. It is still one of my favourite quotes regardless.
So what if your poem doesn’t rhyme or people don’t like your hairstyle, that’s okay! Those judgments from others are simply their own fears of embarrassment or personal insecurities that they are projecting onto you!
The people who do matter won’t mind if you slip up on your words or your shirt is wrinkled. They actually just want to see you grow and give authentically from your heart!
